Week 35--Quality Over Quantity

Dear friends and family,

Our Ward Mission Leader is great at arranging times and people to go out doing missionary work with. There's someone signed up every other day to go out with us. On Monday we got to go tracting with a youth in the ward and he got to see how tracting doesn't always bring the best results when it's dark out. We then finished up and went home.

The next day we went tracting again and one of the people we talked to didn't seem too interested, but randomly out of my mouth came the words, "We're here to introduce family history and to help you locate your ancestors." After I said that I scrambled to grab a family history pamphlet out of my bag since this wasn't planned. She got really excited about the idea of genealogy and said she looks forward to hearing from us in a few days. The Lord knows us all. When we listen to the spirit, he will teach us what we should say.

On Thursday we helped someone who had recently moved into the ward (non-members) by moving around a bunch of their furniture. They had gone from a huge home to a much smaller (but still huge) one, so there wasn't a whole lot of space for all their possessions. We then had a restoration lesson with them and the spirit was strong there. We ended up giving a priesthood blessing to the father, who ended up being very grateful for it. Members in missionary work are so important. Never underestimate how much you can do by simply getting missionaries involved in the lives of those around you and getting to know them.

Friday was an interesting day. We met with an investigator a member had asked us to visit. We brought the member along and taught the second lesson to the investigator, the plan of salvation. Surprisingly, with this man's humility and receptiveness to the Holy Ghost, he already knew most of the things we went to teach him, such as the spirit world and the degrees of glory. That was a surprise.

Later, we visited another investigator who has actually been getting really into the Book of Mormon. He's almost finished 1 Nephi since our last visit. That's encouraging.

Together with three of my companions at interviews!

Those are this weeks highlights. Til next week.

With love,
